The Lokmangal Group has grown from humble beginnings into a diversified conglomerate in a remarkably short span of just 20 years. Actually, it is much more than
an industrial conglomerate…in its home district of Solapur,it is at the vanguard of a Movement, a Movement dedicated to 'India Empowered', wherein the
development of rural India becomes the catalyst for the prosperity of the whole country.
Today the Group is involved in varied activities including Agro-Industries, Banking & Finance, Education, Health Care, Infrastructure Development, Construction,
Retail and Reprographics. The common thread that runs through these activities is that they are all focused on a common objective, as the name itself articulates —
'Lok Mangal '—the welfare of the people.
To become active contributors in empowering the development of rural India through socio-economic initiatives
To generate resources which will be ploughed into creating facilities for education and stimulate job opportunities for the less privileged youth in rural areas, which
in turn will translate into progress and prosperity of these regions, and arrest the trend of migration to large cities in search of a livelihood.
Lokmangal Agro-Based Industries
The Lokmangal saga had begun with designing the logo, a turtle, which symbolizes slow and steady progress towards the goal, based on total dedication to the task
at hand. Paradoxically however, the Group soon began emulating a hare, taking rapid strides, particularly after Lokmangal Agro-Industries came into being. It would
be apt to say that, today, the Lokmangal Group exemplifies the best qualities of both the animals in the well known fable.
Agriculture based industries were a logical route to creating prosperity in the Solapur district, whose economy, like most of rural and semi-urban India, is
predominantly agrarian in nature. Sugarcane is a major crop in this district, so setting up a sugar factory was the obvious solution, whereby farmers would find a
ready market nearby for their produce.
As a natural progression, more agriculture based initiatives followed. Imparting knowledge of better cultivation techniques for greater yields, bio-fertilizers and biopesticides
for environment friendly plant treatment, water conservation measures to utilize optimally a scarce resource, implementation of energy conservation and
power co-generation technologies to supplement inadequate supply from the grid… these and many more innovations have led to a tremendous increase in the
productivity of the region, with a corresponding rise in prosperity.
These demonstrate vividly the articulation of Bhau's vision “Lokmangal foresees a glorious path of rural development through socio-economic measures.”
Lokmangal Agro Industries Ltd
Established in 1999, Lokmangal Agro Industries Ltd. is the Lokmangal Group's first sugar factory.
Located on a 50 acre plot, the factory has a built up area of 8,00,000 sq.ft. It has featured in the Limca Book of Records as the fastest constructed sugar factory in
India, constructed and commissioned in just 6 months and 6 days, testimony to the planning and execution skills of the Group.
An ISO 9001:2000 certified Company, it comprises a sugar division with a cane crushing capacity of 2500 tonnes per day with corresponding sugar production of
270 tonnes per day, a distillery which produces 160 kilo liters per day of alcohol and a spices division with a production capacity of 3 metric tonnes per day.
This factory also has a bagasse fuelled co-generation plant which generates 4.5 MW of electricity, and a bio-gas generator driven by 36 000 M3 of bio-gas generated
from the distillery spent wash, which generates a further 4 MW of electricity.
It has created 400 jobs for skilled and semi-skilled labour, in addition to management and technical staff, and provides gainful employment to 5000 agricultural
labour for harvesting sugarcane.
The Lokmangal Group has always been extremely eco-conscious, and several environment preservation measures have been implemented. These include
installation of Electro-Static Precipitators to eliminate CO2 emission, and enlisting German technology for 100% treatment of water used to flush out fly ash
residue from the boilers, converting this otherwise soil detrimental waste water into becoming a valuable resource for agriculture.
Solapur district is a drought prone area, so water management and conservation are high priority issues. In addition to educating farmers on the pressing need to
conserve water and various means for doing so, the company is playing the lead role in implementing the State Government sponsored 'Shirapur Upsa Yojana'
which is a Build, Own and Transfer scheme whereby 25,000 acres of farm land will be irrigated. The company is also processing a Rs 30 million loan from the
Government of India through which Drip Irrigation schemes will be installed for farmers at a low rate of interest.
Lokmangal Sugar, Ethanol & Co-Generation Industries Ltd,
Established in 2008, the factory is located on a 40 acre plot and has a built up area of 850,000 sq.ft.
It comprises a sugar division with a crushing capacity of 6000 tonnes per day, an Ethanol plant, and a co-generation plant which generates 31.5 MW of power.
Lokmangal Mauli Industries Ltd,
Currently under construction in Solapur's neighbouring district of Osmanabad, this will become the Group's largest sugar factory.
It will comprise a sugar division with a crushing capacity of 6000 tonnes per day, and a distillery, which will produce 160 kilo liters per day of alcohol.
This factory will also have a bagasse based co-generation plant with a capacity of 30 MW.
This will become one of the most efficient sugar factories in the country, with critical machinery and equipment sourced from India's leading manufacturers. These
include Sugar Plant and Machinery from Thyssen Krupp, Boilers from Thermax and Turbines from BHEL. The premium costs incurred on capital expenditure will
be more than made up by the higher operational efficiencies achieved, thanks to maintenance free working resulting in no down time.
The Promoters have also introduced innovative and practical share holding norms. Rather than having a large number of shareholders in a bid to raise more equity
capital, which more often than not leads to unwieldy numbers and insufficient returns on investment to marginal farmers, they have decided to allot one share per
hectare of sugarcane crop. Further, the factory will guide farmers on advanced cultivation techniques and will provide them support by way of better fertilizers,
pesticides and plant nutrients, whereby their yield will increase to 100 tonnes per hectare, maximizing the farmer's profit. Initially, the shareholders will be
restricted to those having farms within a 30 km radius, with an assurance of a ready market for their crop, which will reinforce their pride of being true
stakeholders in the progress and prosperity of their neighbourhood.
Lokmangal Bio-Tech Pvt Ltd
Established in Solapur in 2006, the Company's activities have now spread across Maharashtra to Vidarbha and Khandesh as well as to other States including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
There are currently 2 manufacturing units, one in Solapur and the other in Vadodara, Gujarat, each with a Granule Plant Capacity of 25000 MT per year. The Company also has a well equipped
laboratory for in-depth analysis of all raw material and finished products. Soil and water testing is another major activity.
The product range has grown to include bio-fertilizers, organic fertilizers, water soluble fertilizers, straight fertilizers, secondary nutrients, bio-fungicides, bio-stimulant seeds, pesticides &
Eco-friendly measures such as extensive usage of bio-stimulants, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides are enjoying mass appreciation.
To improve the productivity of agriculture by providing new research based products.
To transfer advanced technology from laboratory to agriculture land with the help of agriculture scientists.
One of the major concerns in today's industrialized world is pollution and depredation caused to the soil by noxious wastes and the rampant use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, causing
irreparable damage to the overall eco- system. A remedy to this is using bio-fertilizers, which are environmentally friendly fertilizers now used in most countries.
These are known to deliver a number of benefits including plant nutrition, disease resistance, and tolerance to adverse soil and climatic conditions. These techniques have proved to be successful,
since bio-fertilizers form a symbiotic, healthy relationship with the roots, and help overcome such problems as increased salinity of the soil and chemical run-offs from the agricultural fields.
Bio-pesticides are inherently less toxic than conventional pesticides, and generally affect only the target pest and closely related organisms, in contrast to broad spectrum, conventional pesticides
that may affect organisms as different as birds, insects, and mammals.
In line with the Group's focus on environment-friendly initiatives, Lokmangal Bio-Tech has made concerted efforts not just to manufacture these products, but also to inculcate their use, by
conducting awareness programmes amongst farmers, not only the big landowners but even the smallest parcel holders in the remotest corners of the district.
This has paid farmers rich dividends in terms of ecology preservation and by substantially increasing the yield from their soil.
Lokmangal Products Ltd.
The Lokmangal Group has set in motion a miniature 'Operation Flood' in Solapur district, with their dairy which was set up in 2001.
What started with a trickle of a few hundred liters a day from nearby farms, the dairy has snowballed into a white, creamy flood, providing direct and indirect employment to around 10,000
people, and high quality, hygienic dairy products to the customer at reasonable prices
A fleet of vans crisscrosses Solapur and Osmanabad districts to over 170 towns and villages, picking up over 50,000 liters of milk every day from more than 500 collection centres, to be
transported to the dairy; this will soon grow to more than 1,00,000 liters per day. The dairy itself has grown from one pasteurization center in Solapur to five in Solapur district and one more in
Osmanabad, along with a processing plant of one lakh liters per day capacity .
Packaged milk and milk products are supplied to distribution centres across Maharashtra, as well as to the neighbouring States of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
As in all their agro-industrial ventures, the Lokmangal Group extends widespread support to the farmers through diverse routes. To improve the quality of milk, they are given training in modern
animal husbandry methods including prevention and treatment of disease, and supplied nutritive cattle fodder, food supplements and medicines at subsidized rates. Study tours are organized so that
they receive exposure to modern cattle farming techniques and different breeds of cattle, as well as basic veterinary care.
The company is also taking major steps to increase the cattle population in Solapur and Osmsnabad districts, with a corresponding increase in the milk available to the dairy. Of the target of
1,00,000 milk cows, in the last year 17,000 cows have already been disbursed to progressive farmers through Financial institutions, the Lokmangal Multi-State Co-Operative Society and the dairy
As a logical forward integration policy, the company has set up a milk products division, offering packaged ghee, pedhas, shrikhand and skimmed milk and whole milk powder. Going beyond Solapur
district, these products are becoming increasingly popular in cities like Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The ghee has already found a receptive market in USA, and the Middle East is the next export
market on the anvil.
Production of milk powder is currently 3 tonnes per day, with expansion planned to 10 tonnes per day; a recent milestone is the export of a 10 tonne consignment to South Africa.
Lokmangal Co-Operative Bank Ltd.
The first organized, publicly held venture of the Lokmangal Group, the Lokmangal Co-operative Bank was set up in 1998. It has become, in many respects, a role model for other small and
medium size financial institutions to emulate, because it scrupulously adheres to its promoters' purpose in setting it up —to serve society by growing in terms of volume and profits so that these
profits may be channelized back to those who need them most ... the weakest sections of society.
The Bank also makes significant contributions to entrepreneurship development, agricultural reforms, employment generation and socio-cultural development programs.
The Bank has crossed many milestones in its brief, 14 year existence. It is the first Co-operative Bank in Maharashtra to be ISO 9001:2008 certified, and has been continuously ranked in Grade 'A'
as per RBI classification. It has paid dividend for 14 consecutive years, aggregating to Rs 167 on a Rs 100 share
It has now grown to three branches, in Solapur, Mangalwedha and Pune, with a deposit base exceeding Rs 160 crores. All three branches are computerized, and offer 365 day banking services.
Lokmangal Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd
Established in 2005, Lokmangal Infrastructure has already become a respected name in Solapur district for its professional approach to the demanding field of infrastructure development.
The company currently focuses on three core areas, all vital to the planned growth and progress of any region: Road development including bridges, dams and irrigation projects and civic amenities
development. It has already executed several projects for PWD, MSRDC, MMRDA, IRDP and other Government Departments and Corporations in Marathwada, Central and North Maharashtra
region, many on BOT ( Build, Operate and Transfer) basis.
Lokmangal Developers Ltd
Lokmangal Developers is a logical expansion of the Group's portfolio, since it caters to the rising demand for quality residential, commercial and institutional construction, a demand fuelled in part
by the Group's own success in creating prosperity across the entire district.
In the space of just three years, several projects already sport the company's logo, from row houses to apartments, corporate offices to shopping complexes, educational institutes to retail malls
and showrooms, warehouses to Industrial plants.
Aesthetic and practical architecture, quality workmanship and affordable prices have become classical Lokmangal signatures.
Completed projects measure over 500,000 square feet; on-going projects will see this figure cross the one million square feet mark within the next two years.
A few of the Company's projects which have become landmarks in their respective localities, are:
Lokmangal Oxypark, a megaproject at 116 Murarjipeth, comprises 133 deluxe flats plus 30 shops. The Lokmangal Group's first venture into the hospitality sector, a 3 star hotel with 5 star
amenities, is coming up adjacent to this complex.
Tuljapur Residency, in the vicinity of the Tuljabhavani Temple
Large warehouses of the Maharashtra State Warehousing Corporation, with a capacity of 75,680 MT in Kurduwadi, Latur, MIDC Chincholi
Lokmangal Logistics Pvt. Ltd
What began as one small truck and a driver, used mainly for transporting building materials and labour of the fledgling road construction company to and fro the construction sites, and later a few
more vehicles which helped farmers transport their crops to the market, has now evolved into a full- fledged Logistics company, with a fleet of trucks which reach the remotest areas of the State.
The fleet size has grown dramatically to 55 lorries and tankers, slated to increase further to 70 in the current year.
Operating through a grid of warehouses and shared warehouse space at strategic locations, the fleet transports individual consignments or container loads, on schedule and at competitive rates.
An emerging business area is the transportation of molasses produced by sugar factories. The immediate target is to enhance the fleet capacity by 10 tankers, with a carrying capacity of 20000 kilo
liters, to cater to the demand of factories in Solapur, Ahmednagar and Osmanabad districts.
Diversification plans will see this Company growing rapidly in the near future.
Lokmangal Garments Ltd
In synch with changing times, women in rural and semi-urban areas are now better educated than they used to be. They are now more willing to come out of the kitchen, so to speak, and share
the onus of contributing to the family's income.
Lokmangal Garments was initially set up to address this need, by providing training in sewing and dressmaking to women, so that they can make careers in garment tailoring establishments, or
even set up their own cottage industry, working from home.
Since the Lokmangal Group has its own retail outlets in Solapur, these women have a readymade market for their creations. The company also guides them in marketing their products through
retailers in other cities, at trade fairs and by exhibition-cum-sales during festive occasions.
Encouraged by the response to these cottage industry efforts, the Group set up Lokmanfal Garments Ltd. in 2009 with a capacity to manufacture 6,00,000 garments in the first year itself; the
capacity has now increased to 20,00,000 garments per annum.
The range covers a wide selection of clothes for all age groups, from little children to adults, and different styles from traditional and modern Indian apparel to westernized clothes. The markets
have also grown substantially, with supplies to retail outlets all over Maharashtra.

Lokmangal Super Bazaar
Reacting to the paradigm shift in consumer preferences and tastes, which has become even more pronounced in small towns and semi-urban areas, the Super Bazaar was set up to offer, under one
roof, a wide range of branded, packaged products.
The company's first Super Bazaar was set up in 2002, in a smart building at a very convenient central location in downtown Solapur, and it became an instant success. It offers ease of shopping in a
modern, customer friendly environment, with a wide choice of virtually every household requirement from food grain to vegetables, packaged foods to beverages, toiletries to groceries, garments
Fresh produce is purchased directly from farmers, without any middlemen in the loop, so that the farmer gets a better price and is more than willing to offer the company first choice of his
A key feature is that many of the products are available at less than the MRP, making shopping here an enjoyable and profitable experience. The customer flow, numbering over 3000 on most days
and many more on weekends and holidays, are testimony to the customer satisfaction with the products, prices and courtesy of the sales staff.
The success of the first Super Bazaar has led to four more being established in other towns in the district, with a centralized purchase system and computerized operations ensuring that the same
pricing policy, standards of product quality and service are maintained at every outlet.
Lokmangal Mauli Jewellers Pvt. Ltd
The plush showroom is the cynosure of all eyes in Solapur's central business district. Spacious, well lit and air conditioned, its attractive displays and convenient seating at sales terminals make
shopping a memorable experience.
It offers a variety of jewellery in distinctive designs, a fine blend of the traditional and the contemporary, in an environment where every customer, big or small, is treated with impeccable
courtesy, and is encouraged to examine as many items as he or she wants, before deciding on the purchase.
The popularity of this first showroom led to a vociferous demand from Latur for a similar shopping experience, so a second showroom was soon opened in this bustling city.
Exclusive carat meters permit customers to confirm the purity of the gold in every item; in any case, the two stores only stock Hallmarked and ISI standard jewellery, so customers are reassured
about the quality and can shop with confidence.
Lokmangal Petroleum Pvt. Ltd.
A synergistic extension, initially to meet the demands of the growing fleet of vehicles owned by various companies of the Group, as well as the growing demand for fuel , automobile servicing and
repairs, Lokmangal Petroleum has set up two full service petrol pumps and service stations in the nearby town of Tuljapur.
The Lokmangal logo on the signboards is all the reassurance that customers need, about the quality of the fuel and the servicing standards they will receive, at fair prices.
Lokmangal Print & Pack Ltd.
Concurrent with the rapid growth of the Group's activities in various sectors as diverse as Agro-industries to Banking& Finance, Educational institutions to Retail, the need for diverse
communication vehicles became apparent. Newsletters, brochures, calendars, instruction manuals, packaging material, stationery items… the growing demand soon made it practical to have inhouse
